- Our FAQ
Answers To Your Questions
We already have a dedicated Project Management (PM) team. Why do we need a separate Project Controls service?
Because Project Controls allows your PM team to focus on execution, leadership, and on-site management — while our controls team acts as your analytical backbone. We collect, clean, trend, and forecast cost, schedule, and scope data to give you objective insights and an early warning system for potential issues.
We have management software (e.g. Primavera P6, Procore, ERP) already in place. How will this affect your service?
Your existing software is an advantage. For smaller engagements (Warm Up / Sprint plans), we can export your data, run analysis with our tools, and deliver professional reports. For larger, ongoing engagements (Marathon Plan), we integrate directly with your live system environment for real-time data flow and reporting.
Will introducing Project Controls increase administrative burden and slow down execution?
No. Our goal is to reduce administrative load and accelerate decision-making. We relieve your team — engineers, foremen, site staff — from time-consuming reporting and spreadsheet work. We standardize data flows and documentation so your site leaders can concentrate on execution, quality, and safety.
When can I expect to see the benefits after hiring your team?
- Weeks 1–6: Setup phase — we integrate with your team, validate baselines, and align data streams for clarity and transparency.
- Month 3 and beyond: Consistent reporting cadence delivers predictive forecasts and early warnings, enabling proactive resource allocation and risk mitigation for sustained financial predictability and schedule control.
How is Project Controls different from Project Management?
Project Management handles “doing” — on-site execution, contractor supervision, quality, and safety. Project Controls handles “seeing and informing” — data collection, performance tracking, forecasting, and analysis. We provide unbiased, objective insights so your PM team can make informed, strategic decisions.
Could we just hire an in-house employee instead of using your service?
You could — but often at higher cost and with administrative overhead. A trained project controller’s starting salary may be around $120,000/year. APS, however, provides a full dedicated team with built-in redundancy, covering Senior PMs, engineers, and support staff — typically at a lower fixed annual cost, with no payroll burden, benefits administration, or HR overhead.
We only need help with one specific area (e.g. scheduling or change management). Do you offer tailored, smaller-scale services?
Yes. APS offers flexible, modular services tailored to your specific needs. We don’t require you to take the full package — we scope and price based on what you need. Contact us to discuss a custom solution.
What kind of outcomes can we expect — and how does this translate to bottom-line benefits?
You gain:
- Cost predictability via accurate forecasting and Estimate-At-Completion (EAC) tracking
- Schedule reliability by identifying and protecting the critical path and recognizing schedule threats early
- Data-driven decision-making (replacing guesswork with objective information)
- Transparent reporting that builds confidence with stakeholders, investors, and clients
What kinds of projects are a good fit for your Project Controls services?
We specialize in large capital projects — typically construction projects ranging from US$1 million up to US$100 million and beyond. This includes infrastructure, industrial, complex commercial, and multi-phase developments with interdependent systems and structured workflows.
